The journey of Light for Life began with a challenge that many thought was impossible: the acquisition of a new land for Hameed Al Husseinie College, Colombo 12. Together with my fellow Director, Mr. Mohamed Akram, we reached out to well-wishers, donors and community leaders, convincing them to unite behind this historic initiative. Through their generosity and unwavering support, what was once a dream became reality, securing a foundation for generations of students to come.
Following this success, it took nearly a year of dedication and planning to formally establish Light for Life (GTE) Ltd. During that period, we did not stop our service; we continued supporting schools, providing relief and uplifting families across Colombo. By the time our organization was incorporated in 2019, we had already proven that our strength lies in action, transparency and collective compassion.
Since then, Light for Life has grown into a vibrant social service organization that touches thousands of lives. From renovating and modernizing classrooms, construction of school buildings and supporting modern education, to providing relief during pandemics and floods, every milestone has been rooted in one mission: to uplift lives with dignity and create lasting impact.
Today, as we prepare to embark on our most ambitious project yet — the construction of a new, state-of-the-art building for Hameed Al Husseinie College, Colombo 12; we are reminded of what can be achieved when vision meets unity. This initiative will not only solve the pressing challenges of space and resources but will also open doors for thousands of children to learn, grow and dream without limits.
None of this would have been possible without the continuous support of our donors, partners and well-wishers like you, who trust us to be the channel of their generosity.
